Chancen und Risiken:
Im Idealfall kann mit Hilfe von refraktiver Chirurgie eine Normalsichtigkeit erreichen und in Zukunft auf Sehhilfen wie Brille oder Kontaktlinsen verzichten. Auf der anderen Seite, stehen die Risiken, die mit jeder Operation verbunden sind. Hierzu zählen unter anderem:
- Komplikationen durch gestörte Wundheilung
- trockene Augen
- Flap-Komplikationen (bei Lasik)
- Über- oder Unterkorrektur
- Ektasie, welche eine Hornhauttransplantation nach sich ziehen kann.
- Einschränkung von Dämmerungs- oder Nachsehen
- Glare und Halogone
Problematisch ist die Aussage über langfristige Auswirkungen einer solchen OP, da Langzeitstudien bisher nicht zur Verfügung. Eine Sehbeeinträchtigungen nach der Behandlung ist immer von individuellen Faktoren abhängig und von Patient zu Patient unterschiedlich.
LASIK bedeutet „Laser In Situ Keratomileusis“ und ist derzeit die populärste Methode, da direkt in der Regel eine sofortige und schmerzfreie Sicht möglich ist. Bei der OP wird im ersten Schritt die Dicke der Hornhaut mitteles eines Ultraschall-Pachymeter erhoben. Bei ausreichender Dicke wird mit einem Mikrokeratom (Hornhauthobel) eine dünne Schicht von der Hornhaut gelöst und zusammen mit dem schmerzempfindlichen Epithel zur Seite geklappt. Mit Hilfe eines Lasers wird nun auf dem Gewebe eine Korrektur vorgenommen wobei Honrhautzellen gespalten und abgetragen werden. Die Hornhautlamelle wird jetzt wieder zurückgeklappt. Möglich ist LASIK von -10 bis 4 Dioptrien.
